Making button badges involves several steps, from designing the artwork to assembling the final product. Here is a general overview of the process:

1. Designing the artwork:
1.1: Create a design for your button badge using graphic design software like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Corel Draw, and other design software that may suit your preference.

1.2: Keep in mind the size of the button badge and ensure that your design fits within those dimensions.

1.3: Use high-resolution images with a minimum of 300 dpi and choose vibrant colors for better print quality.

2. Choosing Button Badge Components:
2.1: Decide on the size and type of button badge you want to create. Common sizes include 25mm, 32mm, 37mm, 44mm, 50mm, 58mm, and 75mm in diameter.
2.2. Select the type of backing, such as a pin-back, magnet, or clip.

3. Printing the artwork:
Print the designed artwork onto photo paper that is suitable for button badges. This paper is often glossy and designed to adhere well to the badge components. You may consider inkjet printers for small-scale production or as a start. Some common brands are Canon, Epson, Brother, and HP.

4. Cutting the artwork:
Use a circle die cutter or a punch cutter to cut out the printed designs. Make sure the size matches the diameter of the button badge. For those who are familiar with sticker production, a desktop cutting plotter can be another option as well.

Option 1- Die Cutter

The die cutter is a device that uses a pre-defined die, which is a sharp-edged tool or mold, to cut through the paper or material in a specific shape. In the context of button badges, the pre-defined die would typically be circular to match the shape of the badge. These die cutters are often used in conjunction with button badge making machines, allowing for efficient and precise cutting of the paper or graphic material that will be used to create the button.

Option 2- Cutting Plotter

A desktop plotter machine, often referred to simply as a desktop plotter or cutting plotter, is a device used for creating precision-cut designs and graphics on various materials, such as vinyl, paper, cardstock, and fabric. These machines are commonly used in graphic design, crafting, sign making, and other industries where precise cutting of materials is required.

Option 3- Acrylic Cutter

An acrylic paper cutter generally refers to a paper cutter with an acrylic base or cutting surface. The base is made of acrylic, which is a type of transparent plastic known for its durability and clarity. The use of acrylic in a paper cutter provides a smooth and see-through surface that aids in aligning and cutting paper with precision.

These paper cutters are often equipped with measurement guides and rulers to assist in accurately sizing and aligning the paper for cutting. The acrylic base allows users to see through it, making it easier to line up the paper and ensure that the cuts are straight and even. The transparency of the acrylic also facilitates visibility of the paper underneath, enabling users to make more accurate cuts.

5. Assembling the Button Badge:
The button badge consists of several components, including the front cover, the printed artwork, a metal shell, a plastic backing, and a pin or other attachment.
Place the metal shell in the button badge machine, followed by the printed artwork and a clear plastic mylar cover.
Insert the button badge components into the machine and press it to secure everything together. The machine will crimp the edges to create a sealed button badge.

Step 1: Place the metal shell on the first mould, left side of the button badge machine.

Step 2: Put your printed artwork on top of the metal shell. (Left side of the button badge machine)

Step 3: Put the transparent mylar film on top of the printed artwork. (Left side of the button badge machine)

Step 4: Slide the mould from left to right. ( —-> )

Step 5: Press the mould firmly by using handheld.

Step 5: Put the white ABS base on the right side of the mould.

Step 6. Press down firmly with handheld.

Congratulations! Your AWESOME button badge is ready.

6. Quality Control:
Inspect the finished button badges for any defects, such as air bubbles or misalignment.
Discard any defective badges and ensure that the rest meet your quality standards.

7. Packaging and Distribution:
Once you have a batch of completed button badges, organize and package them for distribution.
Consider creating a display or packaging that enhances the appeal of your button badges.

8. Marketing and Selling:
If you’re creating button badges for sale, develop a marketing strategy to promote and sell them. This could include setting up an online store, attending events, or collaborating with retailers.
